Blessed Beyond Measure 2017

Blessed Beyond Measure 2017

I'm a writer, so I'm not sure why this never occurred to me before: Choosing a theme for the coming year.

I mean, I've chosen themes for essays and works of fiction, even entire blogs. I've thought about theme songs for my life (here's my anthem, In My Mind by Amanda Palmer), but never thought to choose a theme for a particular year.  So this year it is now a thing. My theme for 2017 is Blessed Beyond Measure.

Aside from the losses of some truly inspiring people and the awful mess our country has made of the entire political system, 2016 was okay. When I think about the future, about repercussions of 2016 events, I get a little lot anxious. So as is my wont, I choose to focus on the good stuff. I put on a smile and keep moving forward.

There are so many good things in my life; I have an amazing man, wonderful kids, fabulous job, a roof over my head and enough money to pay the bills. I like who I am, am excited for who I'm becoming. I am blessed beyond measure. And I will embrace that theme all year. I'm going to look for joy every day, and I'm going to find and share it.

If you're reading this blog, I invite you to share this theme. Our world will change, one positive thought at a time.
